Representing one of the firm’s Top 10 grossing auctions of all time, Acker’s spectacular two-day auction, headlined by the inimitable collection of The Golden Bull, set the pace for a fabulous Fall season with $15M in sales on September 6th and 7th. Collectors all over the world were feeling quite bullish about their fine and rare wine, setting the table for the firm’s upcoming auctions, which will deliver over $25 Million more of sales over the next six weeks in three countries.
The Top Ten lots of the auction, all from The Collection of The Golden Bull, consisted of a 2:1 split between two of the greatest producers in the world today – Domaine Leroy and Domaine de la Romanee Conti. In the top position, there was a tie shared by two vintages of Domaine de la Romanee Conti, both from the famed Romanee Conti vineyard: a rare owc Methuselem of 1996, and a 6-bottle owc of 1999 DRC Romanee Conti each selling for $125,000. In third place was a case of 2005 Leroy Richebourg, which sold for $106,250, also in owc. Positions four and five were also a tie between original wood cases – a six bottle lot of 2001 Romanee Conti, and a case of 2014 Leroy Richebourg, each of which achieved $93,750. The next four spots of the Top 10 lots were a four-way tie, each represented by Domaine Leroy. Trading for a robust $87,500 were three bottles of 2009 Musigny, along with twelve bottle cases of 2008 Richebourg, 1999 and 2001 Romanee St. Vivant. Lastly, in tenth place was another three-way tie of Domaine Leroy, with 3 bottles of 2001 Musigny, and 12 bottles each of 2008 and 2011 Romanee St. Vivant – all of which achieved $81,250.

Acker’s upcoming fall auctions contain no shortage of highlights, with upcoming sales over the next six weeks set to feature The Collection of The Chairman, The Extraordinary Cellar of John Tilson, and another installment from The Golden Bull.
Acker’s auction season continues in Hong Kong on September 28, on October 10 in Delaware, and with the Singapore Anniversary auction at Marina Bay Sands on October 26.
